NOTICES – THIS WEEK:

THE WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY 18 - 25TH January 2012 will be marked by daily prayer in each of Wirksworth’s 6 churches in turn at 9.30 am. All Christians are invited to join in praying together using the leaflet, either at home or by attending the joint services. The prayers will follow the national theme: We will all be CHANGED. A local leaflet has been produced and is available at Team and participating churches. Further copies can be obtained from Revd Bob Rhodes. All Christians are invited to join in solidarity in praying together for Christian Unity, using the leaflet. This can be done at home or at each of the churches in turn.

TRANSITION WIRKSWORTH presents SURFING THE WAVES OF CHANGE Monday 6th February 7.30 - 9.30 at the Memorial Hall. Find out how Wirksworth can ride the economic changes successfully - Film and Discussion - Review of 2011- Constitution and Cake.


TEAM QUIZ EVENING  Friday 10th February 6.45pm at Waltham House Wirksworth (in the warm restaurant!). Entry £5 per person to include a finger buffet; BYO alcohol and soft drinks, coffee and tea will be provided for a small additional charge. A maximum of 6 persons per team. COFFEE MORNING. Come and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee at the home of John and Christine Windsor, Slaley House, North End, Wirksworth on Sat 11th February, 10am -12 noon. Raffle and various stalls (bring and buy, nearly new, cakes and Jill’s jams etc.). Proceeds for St Mary’s, Wirksworth.

ST VALENTINES DAY CONCERT Saturday 11th February 7.30 pm in Elton church. Listen with a glass of wine while Buxton a Capella choir sing Gershwin et al. Further details from Jane Snodgrass.


DIOCESAN PILGRIMAGE following the highly successful visit in 2010, Bishop Humphrey is to lead a second pilgrimage to the Holy Land from 16-24 April this year. A key aim of the pilgrimage will be to meet with local Palestinian Christians who will lead the group around many important places of pilgrimage, including the place of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, the Sea of Galilee and the via dolorosa in Jerusalem, with special services at each site. Pilgrims will be able to renew their baptism vows in the River Jordan and those who are married, their marriage vows at Cana of Galilee.
